By the time that we had reached Dover, however, we were all wide awake; but when we had reached Zeebrugge in Belgium, everyone wanted to go back to sleep again - it had been rather a sickly crossing. Next we boarded the coach that was to take us to Switzerland on our ski-ing holiday. Although our coach had to be dug out once, nothing disastrous happened and we reached Einsiedeln about 3 p.m. the next day. During the following week everyone, including Mr. Holbrook and Mr. Goodhew, had mastered the art of falling over the only exception was Peter Wareham, and his ankle remained heavily bandaged as a result for the rest of the week ! New Year's Eve was an occasion of considerable merriment and many found it difficult to come down on time to breakfast the next morning. After a carefree and enjoyable week, the party had to leave Einsiedeln for home, reaching there on January 5th, just two days before having to come down to earth and return to school once more. A.D. CHRISTIAN UNION The year has been a successful one on the whole. The Senior Group welcomed some new members and open meetings have included visits from Mr. Imbry (Pastor of Southall Evangelical Church); Mr. Paul Hill (Evangelist) and Mr. Colin Richards (an Elder of Greenford Gospel Hall). The film Hidden Treasures was shown to an audience of over 50 and the Christian Union combined with the Geography Society to hear about the geography of Genesis. The Senior Group also took Morning Assembly one day in the autumn term. The Junior Group has increased in numbers. A Nativity Play was performed at on Old People's Home in December. In the spring term it was decided to hold two meetings weekly, one on a missionary project and the other involving singing choruses, stories and testimonies. V.P. GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY This year, the Society has been fortunate in welcoming many outside speakers to its meetings. Mr. R. Watson and Mr. N. Perry provided interesting eye-opening accounts of their recent visits to the U.S.S.R. and East Germany respectively. Mr. D. Henderson spoke on a helpful subject for 4th and 5th formers : p9
