Smith. Vice President : Mr. D. Butcher. Staff Reps. : Mr. Grieve, Miss Newton. MISS ANN DIXON With characteristic modesty Ann Dixon has announced briefly her impending retirement from helping to run the Old Scholars' Association. Those who have helped her in this work, as well as ordinary members, will know only too well how the Association has depended on her loyalty and hard work over some years. They will certainly wish to thank her for all these efforts so freely and generously given and to wish her the best in the future — and hope that the Association has by no means heard the last of her either! GREENFORD GRAMMAR SCHOOL PARENTS' ASSOCIATION The very full and detailed report issued to parents this summer renders it unnecessary to report further on the continuing work of this association under the leadership of Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Greave. All parents are urged to join fully in its activities and can be assured of a warm welcome. FOOTBALL REPORT The past season has been one of real improvement for the club. It started in disastrous fashion for the first eleven who were soundly beaten several times in the first two matches both in League and Cup. Then the side settled down under the Captaincy of Maurice Lewis. They had a wonderful run losing only once, in a League game in the rest of the season and finishing second in division two of the League. Next season they will be in division one for the first time ever. The second and third elevens both had sound but had unspectacular seasons, finishing in safe positions. Membership throughout was strong and the general standard of the club was higher than last year. Helped no doubt by a new spirit based on the success of the first eleven, the Dinner Dance held at the Byron on the 9th May, 1969, was a tremendous success, 89 people sitting down to dinner. Next year we are thinking of holding a Christmas Dance in addition to the end of season affair. p.a p32 Your GCE will give you a flying start with the Midland — the start of a real career.
